The goal of the Adult Team is to maximize independence and self care of people who have challenges caused by:. Individuals may be seen as inpatients, outpatients or on outreach. They may be seen by a single service or by an interdisciplinary team. The program is designed to meet the individual needs of the clients. At SCCR they are encouraged to participate in goal setting and treatment planning. There are 20 inpatient beds available for individuals who need highly specialized services.
Inpatients receive daily treatment from a team of healthcare professionals and a physician. A detailed treatment plan is developed and is directed toward achieving the goals of both patient and the team. Often, there are outpatient follow-up appointments and outpatient services with, for example, physiotherapy, occupational therapy or social work. Some single service outpatient services are offered in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, and social work.
We also offer limited outpatient service in clinical dietetics, recreation therapy, and speech-language pathology through some of our specialized clinics. We strive to use the latest available technologies to provide rehab services at a distance in order to best serve our patients around the province. Adult team staff will consult on specific patients or general disorder areas with professionals around the province, either in person or by videoconference.
This is done upon request, or as determined by the team, pending staffing and budget availability. Adult team staff will provide educational sessions to professionals, stakeholder groups, or the public, either in person or by videoconference.
